Before you come
Your first visit
A first visit is about an hour with a physical therapist. Here is what to know before you come.
What to wear
Clothes you can move in. If we will look at a knee or shoulder, shorts or a tank top help.
What to bring
Your insurance card if you use one, photo ID, and the shoes or gear that matter to your question.
How long it takes
About an hour. Arrive a few minutes early to fill in forms on our patient portal or on paper.
Who you see
A physical therapist, for the whole visit and at every visit after.
In the room
A table, a gym floor and time to talk
Your therapist starts by listening to what you do and what you want back. Then they look at how you move, test strength and range, and explain what they find in plain words.
Before you leave, you and your therapist agree on a plan: what to practice, what to avoid for now and when we meet next.
We explain the risks and your choices
We work within what you can tolerate
You can ask us to stop or slow down at any point

Not decided on day one
What we decide together, later
How many visits
We tell you what decides it, and we review it as you progress. We do not set a number on day one.
When you are ready for your sport
We test what your sport asks of you and tell you what we find. We do not give dates.
What comes after
When care ends, you leave with a plan for staying strong on your own.
